The Biedar Eldest (informally referred to as the Biedar crone) is the ruler and eldest member of the Biedar tribe. She has crinkled, brown features, black eyes, red-dyed palms, and wind-tangled snags of white hair. She wears a fringed head-dress patterned with tribe-spun yarns made of silk and dyed goat hair and a bone necklet with hanging carved fetishes. On her wrists are bracelets of blown glass and copper.

The Sundering Star
The Biedar inhabit the the inhospitable planet of Scathac. Jessian arrives on the planet to negotiate the relocation of the Biedar, on a primary mission from WorldFleet and a covert mission of the Koriathain. After being captured by the Biedar, Jessian awakens before the Biedar Eldest. Through her, Jessian gains a new perspective on her tangled loyalties and understands why the tribe lives in strict isolation. After the tribe speaks for her integrity, the Biedar Eldest agrees to return Jessian to her own kind.
Third Age 5011: Through the Reiyaj seeress, the Biedar Eldest requests Davien's help to locate a talisman being used by the Gray Kralovir to mask their actions from the earth link. To conceal Davien's actions from the earth link and the rest of the Fellowship, he receives a silver ring with three embossed crescents around a citrine, the Biedar Eldest's ancient heirloom from Scathac.
Third Age 5671: Based on a Biedar prophecy, the crone and a party of tribesfolk collect Arithon at the Paravian focus circle in the Sanpashir ruins after his battle against necromancy in Etarra. Before escorting him back into the desert, she orders some of her men to meet Sulfin Evend at the beach, naming him a friend. The crone sings to Arithon on his first awakening and reveals that his presence has been foretold for longer than the Biedar have lived on Athera. She reunites him with Elshian's lyranthe (left in the ruins on his last visit) to help him cope through his nightmares and transports him to a private place to heal deep within the desert.
Sulfin Evend is granted an audience with the crone, who informs him of the purge of the Gray Kralovir. He asks for help to protect Lysaer and is promised a meeting with the person who will wield the flint knife and secure Lysaer's deliverance. Shocked by the discovery that the person is Arithon, Sulfin Evend attempts an attack but is subdued and tied by the Biedar. The crone orders him left in Arithon's presence for his transgression. After Sulfin Evend's departure, the crone visits Arithon to convince him to stay and heal, but Arithon chooses to depart to support his friends. The crone says that he will "visit death twice again".
The crone prepares for the "hour of the second death" after Arithon is gravely wounded at Alestron and does not awaken during the escape in a courier sloop. She foreshadows Elaira's role in a coming decision.
At Athir, Elaira chooses an untested path between the machinations of the Fellowship and Koriathain to save Arithon. She enacts a Koriani spell of possession that will allow her to interact with Arithon through Glendien's willing body, without realizing that its origin was from the Biedar. In alignment with an ancient prophecy, the Biedar elders summon the wise of their ancestry. Sethvir accedes to a claim by the Biedar Eldest, allowing the Biedar to influence Elaira's rites and the subsequent conception of Arithon's daughter. Sethvir promises that Arithon will never learn of the child. The Biedar Eldest forsees that she will one day spare Arithon's life and suggests that the child begin life under the guardianship of Sethvir, as Dari s'Ahelas did before her. Arithon is made whole again and sung to sleep by Biedar singers.
Third Age 5672: In the spring, the Biedar Eldest's infant successor is born.
Elaira arrives in Sanpashir Desert seeking answers from the Biedar and is granted an audience with the Eldest. The Biedar Eldest tells Elaira that Meiglin s'Dieneval conceived Dari s'Ahelas long ago and that Dari's gift of prophecy was bestowed by the Biedar. Elaira thanks her for her role in freeing Arithon and the crone hints at the outcome of Elaira's actions at Athir. The sorceress refuses this knowledge and also the offer to sever her vow to the Koriathain. The Biedar Eldest names her as the tribe's emissary and gives her the flint knife. Elaira is charged to deliver the knife to Arithon and allowed to use the knife once on her own behalf. Elaira agrees only to consult with Sethvir for more information.
