Hanshire is a port city in Korias, Tysan, on the shore of the Westland Sea. Before the rebellion it was a prime Paravian port of Tysan, having a generous cove harbor. The city is built from ancient blue slate and red-gold sandstone.

The mayors of the city have maintained a positive outlook on the works of the Koriathain, and its top officials work closely with the Enchantresses, even after the rebellion. The Lord Mayor keeps a group of scryers in the palace to report on inbound ships to the harbormaster.

Spoiler warning: Contains plot elements from Traitor's Knot.

The bargain between the mayor and the Koriathain started after the rebellion and is renewed at each generation and usually arranges for buildings, land, or labor in exchange for aid from the sorceresses. When the time came for the bargain to be renewed with Lord Mayor Garde's son, Sulfin Evend, the Koriathain demanded his gifted offspring instead.
