Third Age 5653: When the Koriani conspiracy breaks in Riverton, Ianfar is with Maenol's troops near Mogg's Fen. Maenol entrusts Ianfar's safety to Mearn s'Brydion, who returns with him to Avenor, presumably in the guise of a townborn servant. Maenol directs Mearn to get Ianfar to Maenol's war captain in Camris for upbringing (should the war captain survive the coming battles). Ianfar is ultimately accepted into fosterage at the court of Havish.
Third Age 5670: Ianfar is summoned as Tysan's representative when Princess Ellaine comes to Telmandir seeking sanctuary. After reading Ellaine's smuggled proof of conspiracy, he agrees that she cannot return to Tysan. Ianfar accompanies Ellaine on her search for sanctuary, traveling to Alestron, and then Methisle Fortress.
Third Age 5671: He and Ellaine assist Verrain in the spring inventory of methspawn in Mirthlvain Swamp until Kharadmon arrives for an audience with the princess. The Sorcerer sends him home at speed by the power focus to assist Lord Maenol in the Thaldein Mountains, where he warns of a necromancy-afflicted sunwheel priest traveling from Erdane. At this time, he is the designate for the role of caithdein in Tysan.
