Merior

Merior, also called Merior by the Sea, is a small fishing settlement on the Scimlade peninsula between Sickle Bay and the Cildein Ocean in Alland, Shand. A road connects to Shaddorn in the south. Garth's Pond can also be found here.

The eastern anchorage at Merior (on the sea side) has no breakwater or dock, and is too cramped for trader ships. The town is described as stagnant, rows of shuttered cottages and a near-deserted fish market, and clay charms protect the fishnets from the mischief of iyats.

Trivia

  • Merior does not have an apothecary. Townsfolk must travel south to Shaddorn.
  • By local custom, a bride's father may nullify a wedding contract at any time before her first childbirth if the match is ruled unfavorable. The law was originally written to curb wife beating, but has extended to cases where a husband loses his livelihood.
